Yung Miami Accuses Tyla of Stealing Unreleased ‘Chanel’ Track
Yung Miami has ignited controversy by claiming that Tyla allegedly stole her concept for ‘Chanel.’ She posted on X that she once played the unreleased track “Take Me to Chanel” for Tyla, only to see Tyla now promote ‘Chanel’ with a chorus saying “Put me in Chanel.” The accusation rapidly spread, sparking debates across music communities worldwide.
In her first public post about it, Yung Miami wrote: “This girl really ran off with my song and ion know how to feel about it. Mind you I played this song for this girl.” She followed up by expressing confusion and frustration. She later added, “Take me to Chanel > put me in Chanel.” That final line cemented her argument that the new Chanel release borrows directly from her own idea.
Meanwhile, Tyla announced that ‘Chanel’ will drop on October 24. She teased lyrics like “Say you love me, put me in Chanel” in promotional materials and fans already circulated the snippet online. Many argue the two choruses differ: Yung Miami reportedly chants “Take me to Chanel”, while Tyla sings “Put me in Chanel.” Some fans suggest that referencing Chanel in songs is common, and the similarity may be coincidental.
Furthermore, Yung Miami remains firm in her stance, even after critics pointed out that she delayed releasing her version. When someone questioned the delay, she replied: “Don’t matter, it’s my mf song!!!” That response suggests she views timing as irrelevant to ownership. Her posts also call for dialogue: she encouraged Tyla to address the issue head-on.
Moreover, this controversy comes amid increasing global attention on Tyla. Her prior work like Water and her EP We Wanna Party has elevated her across Africa and beyond. The ‘Chanel’ single was first previewed during her set at the Global Citizen Festival. Now, she faces public pressure to defend her creative process.
While Tyla has stayed silent thus far, the music world will watch closely. Shouldt this allegation becomes a legal issue or fuel rivalry? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
