Popular Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti’s manager, Ayo Moses has narrated what happened on the day the Singer slapped a policeman on Lagos’ third mainland bridge.
Ayo, who spoke exclusively to Vanguard Potpourri on the phone, stated that Seun Kuti was provoked into physically attacking the cop by the officer.
He also alleged the Policeman was drunk at the time the incident occurred.
In his words;
“On the said day, Seun was driving with his family on the third mainland bridge, when he was suddenly hit from behind, by a police truck being driven by an officer who was reportedly drunk. This act from the officer led Seun’s daughter into a sudden shock, as she was visibly shaken by the hit.
So, this made Seun pursue the truck, double-crossed it and forced it to a stop. When the police officer got down from the truck, instead of apologizing, he was arguing with Seun, which provoked him to slap the officer.”
Ayo wanted Nigerians to understand that Seun Kuti is a human being and that anybody would have reacted in the same way if their family was in danger.
He cautioned police officers against thinking that just because they wear uniforms, they are untouchable. He added:
“People should realize that men on uniforms also provoke civilians. Immunity is no excuse for impunity.”
According to Ayo, Seun Kuti, who has been moved to the State CID officer in Yaba, would be represented in court by seasoned attorney and human rights campaigner, Femi Falana.
