Ex-BBNaija Housemate, Rico Swavey, Is Dead

It has been confirmed. Former Big Brother Naija Star, Patrick Fakoya, popularly known as Rico Swavey, is dead. He died this morning following a ghastly auto crash on Tuesday, that left him in a critical condition.

Yesterday, his close friend and former BBN housemate, Tobi Bakre, took to Twitter to announce the accident and solicit funds and support for him. Tobi had shared a picture of the artiste on life support, and launched a fundraiser to foot his rising hospital bills. According to him, they needed 30 million Naira to keep him on life support.

His colleague, Alex unusual, also wrote on her Instagram page, “I wish I didn’t have to post this but my friend is in a critical condition and we are in need of your financial assistance and prayers. I also wish I could give more information on his health but how can I when we are still waiting for the doctors and God to save this dear life or at least get a sign or response from Rico? Whatever you can do to support will be highly appreciated as he is on life support and fighting for his life. Please, @ricoswavey_official needs our help #ricoswavey #prayforricoswavey”

Immediately after the posts, prayers and donations started pouring from well-meaning Nigerians, who fondly recalled Rico’s gentle nature in the Big Brother house. #prayforricoswavey trended on Twitter as people prayed for strength for him to survive the accident.

Unfortunately, Rico Swavey lost the battle in the early hours of Thursday. He was just 29 years old.
