Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, a Nigerian singer, has finally gotten the highly coveted Grammy trophy plaque for her exceptional achievement in music.

Tems won the prestigious prize for Best Melodica Rap Performance at the 65th Grammy Awards, which were held on February 6, 2023.

Tems’ Grammy-winning effort was a collaboration with renowned singers Future and Drake on the song ‘Wait for U.’

In a gesture of pride, he flaunted the Grammy award plaque without adding a caption, letting the accomplishment speak for itself.

This monumental achievement has placed Tems in the history books as the first female Nigerian artiste to win a Grammy.

It also marks another significant milestone as she became the first female Nigerian singer to receive a Grammy nomination the previous year.

Tems’ nomination in the Best Global Performance category for her hit song ‘Essence,’ a collaboration with fellow Nigerian artist Wizkid, had garnered international acclaim.

Although she narrowly missed out on the award, losing to Pakistan’s Arooj Aftab, it showcased her undeniable talent and propelled her to even greater heights.

The recognition and accolades continue to pour in for Tems, whose soulful and distinctive voice has captured the hearts of music lovers worldwide.

With her groundbreaking achievements, Tems has not only made Nigeria proud but has also become an inspiration to aspiring female musicians across the country.

As Tems basks in the glory of her Grammy triumph, fans and fellow artists alike are eagerly anticipating her next musical endeavors.

Undoubtedly, this recognition will open doors to new opportunities and collaborations for the gifted singer.
