Asake’s M$NEY Album Is Breaking Streaming Records Worldwide

Mr. Money just cashed out, and the numbers are speaking for themselves. Asake released his fourth studio album, M$NEY, on May 1, 2026, and it has been trending online since then. His fans have been anticipating Asake’s M$NEY album even before he announced the release date.

Asake’s M$NEY Album Hits 13.15 Million Streams on Day One

Over 13 million Spotify streams on the day it dropped. Not in a week. Not in three days. The same day the album came out. That is not a streaming milestone; that is a statement. Most artists spend months chasing those kinds of numbers. Asake did it before people even finished their first full listen.

Furthermore, M$NEY went straight to number one on the UK Apple Music chart. However, the bigger story is what that means in context. Asake is now the first African artist to have five albums reach the top position on that chart. Five consecutive number ones. He just never misses.

The Chart Dominance Goes Even Deeper

Asake currently sits at number 15 on the global digital artist rankings worldwide, right alongside some of the most streamed global artists. He is also one of the highest-charting African artists in global Spotify Top Artists chart history. Those are not Afrobeats records; they are world records.

His debut, Mr. Money With The Vibe, sits at 880 million+ streams. His sophomore album Work of Art has accumulated 780 million+ streams. Additionally, Asake currently has 8.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone and has been TurnTable’s most-streamed artist in Nigeria every single year since 2022. M$NEY is only going to push those numbers higher.

Shortly after the album landed, Wizkid posted a single dollar sign on X. The post went viral instantly, pulling over 3 million views alongside tens of thousands of likes and reposts. Fans took it as Big Wiz giving his official stamp of approval. When legends salute each other, AfrobeatsGlobal pays attention.

However, not everything was a celebration. A track called “Amen” sparked conversation after listeners picked up on a lyric referencing Tinubu’s famous “Emi lokan” declaration. Many fans expressed frustration online given the current economic mood in Nigeria. Whether you agree with the bars or not, people are listening closely, and that is never a bad sign for an artist.

M$NEY Is a New Chapter for Asake and for Afrobeats

ASAKE MONEY ALBUM COVER

This album is also historic on a personal level. M$NEY is Asake’s first release under his own independent imprint, GIRAN Republic, after his exit from YBNL Nation. The stakes were real, and he delivered. The project blends Afrobeats with jazz, amapiano, orchestral arrangements, and live choral performances, and across all 13 tracks, Asake explores spirituality, growth, gratitude, and personal reflection. In addition, he reframes the whole idea of money as something bigger than material wealth. That is the kind of depth that makes a project last.

With M$NEY already dominating Nigerian streaming charts, Asake is on course to finish 2026 as Nigeria’s most-streamed artist for the fourth straight year. The reign is nowhere near over.

So if M$NEY is not already living on your playlist, you are late. Stream it, pick your favorite track, and drop it in the comments. Share this with your Afrobeats circle and follow AfrobeatsGlobal.
