Wizkid Headlines As Other Prominent Nigerian Stars Rule Afro Nation
Wizkid just closed out one of Afrobeats’ biggest global stages, and he did it in style. The star delivered a headline set on the final night of Afro Nation Portugal 2026.
Wizkid Closes The Festival In Style
Wizkid thrilled thousands of fans with a set spanning different eras of his career. From fan favorite Kese to the globally acclaimed Essence, the performance kept the crowd singing throughout. American R&B star Kehlani also joined the closing night, adding another memorable moment to the finale.
However, Wizkid wasn’t the only Nigerian star owning the festival. Burna Boy and Asake also served as headline acts across the event’s three nights. As a result, Nigerian artists effectively controlled every major stage moment of this year’s edition.
Nigerian Artists Dominate Every Stage
Beyond the headliners, Olamide, Bella Shrmuda, Wande Coal, Blaqbonez, and Young Jonn also delivered standout performances. Meanwhile, Burna Boy brought a show worthy of a stadium, with the crowd singing back nearly every lyric. Asake, known for his explosive live energy, kept fans on their feet with infectious choreography.
Nigerian music was also everywhere off the main stages, playing from DJ sets and soundtracking countless festival videos. Additionally, fans from Europe, North America, South America, and the Caribbean sang along in Yoruba, Pidgin, and English. Notably, language proved no barrier once the music connected.
A Bigger Win For Afrobeats Globally
Artists from other African regions also shone, including South Africa’s Tyla, Congo’s Awilo Longomba, and Ghana’s R2Bees. Still, it was the Nigerian contingent that defined this year’s festival. Afro Nation has grown into more than a festival. It’s now a global celebration of African culture, and Nigerian artists sat right at its center.
