Prince Kaybee Signs With PLAYY Records, New Single

Prince Kaybee just leveled up. A new label deal means a whole new chapter for one of Afro house’s biggest names. South African producer Prince Kaybee has signed with international label PLAYY Records. The Prince Kaybee PLAYY Records partnership debuts with new single Heno Babayo on June 26. AfrobeatsGlobal has followed his career since his breakout DJ competition win back in 2015. This signing marks a genuine new chapter.

Born Kabelo Motsamai, Prince Kaybee previously released music through Universal Music South Africa. Over the past decade, he built a catalog full of hits like “Club Controller” and “Banomoya.” Notably, his track “Uwrongo” even landed on TIME magazine’s list of the decade’s best songs. That kind of crossover recognition is rare for Afro house.

His path to music wasn’t always obvious either. Prince Kaybee once hoped to become a professional footballer with Bloemfontein Celtic. However, a knee injury ended that dream and pushed him fully into production instead. Therefore, music became his second calling, and it clearly paid off.

What Heno Babayo Brings To Afro House

His new single leans into everything fans love about his sound. Heno Babayo features layered percussion, melodic synth work, and rich vocal harmony. Meanwhile, the track marks his first official release under the new PLAYY Records partnership. Expect it to anchor dance floors across the continent this summer.

Prince Kaybee has collected serious hardware throughout his career already. He has won multiple SAMAs, including Male Artist of the Year and Best Dance Album. Additionally, he picked up a Best Collaboration award at Nigeria’s Soundcity MVP Awards for “Gugulethu.” His resume speaks for itself at this point.
