Davido Faces N2 Billion Lawsuit for Event Breach
Nigerian music icon Davido is entangled in a legal dispute as Brownhill Investments Company Limited, owned by former NFF president Amaju Pinnick, pursues a N2 billion lawsuit against him and his label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited. The suit alleges Davido reneged on a performance agreement to attend an event in Australia instead.
In November 2023, Brownhill Investments filed suit EHC/183/2023 before the Delta State High Court, represented by lawyer Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem. They claim Davido’s decision resulted in significant damages, prompting their demand for substantial compensation.
Legal Proceedings
At a recent hearing, Davido’s counsel, Mr. Norrison Quakers (SAN), cited a pending appeal and filed a motion to halt proceedings until resolved. The defendants received the claimant’s reply affidavit, indicating active legal engagement.
The claimant seeks N2 billion in general damages, N150 million for legal expenses, and N30 million for filing costs. These reflect the resources devoted to the case.
