Basadi in Music Awards Reunites Hosts for Fifth Anniversary

The Basadi in Music Awards just announced something fans have waited five years to see. All four former hosts of the show are reuniting for one special night. AfrobeatsGlobal breaks down everything about this milestone Basadi in Music Awards anniversary celebration.

Organizers confirmed that Anele Zondo, Moozlie, Unathi, and Lerato Kganyago will host the fifth anniversary festivities together. The theme for this year’s celebration is called REWIND: The Rise. This marks the first time all four presenters have appeared on stage together.

The event will return to the Joburg Theatre for a two-night experience this year. The Basadi in Music Awards Vanguard Awards will take place on August 7, 2026. Meanwhile, the main awards ceremony follows the next day on August 8, 2026.

Anele Zondo and Moozlie hosted the very first ceremony back in 2022. Unathi then took over hosting duties for both the 2023 and 2024 editions. Lerato Kganyago presented the 2025 show, which also introduced the Vanguard Awards for the first time.

Why This Reunion Means So Much To The Platform

Each year of the awards has carried its own distinct theme, reflecting different creative directions. The inaugural event in 2022 used the theme Ballgowns and Tiaras. That was followed by Glam with a Touch of Africa in 2023, Girl in the Mirror in 2024, and The Four Elements of Nature in 2025.

Founder and chief executive Hloni Modise-Matau explained why this anniversary approach felt meaningful for the brand. “When we started the Basadi in Music Awards five years ago, we were building more than an awards ceremony; we were building a legacy,” she said. She added that each host represents a distinct chapter in the platform’s growing history.

Legal partner Manaileng Maphike echoed similar sentiments about the significance of this reunion. “This year’s theme, REWIND: The Rise, is a powerful reminder that every milestone is built on the courage, resilience, and excellence of the women who came before us,” she said. Meanwhile, SABC 2 marketing manager Dichaba Phalatse confirmed the broadcaster’s continued partnership with the awards platform.

The Basadi in Music Awards has consistently recognized achievements by women across music and entertainment since launching. This anniversary event promises to honor that full history in one unified celebration. Therefore, fans attending or watching from home can expect a night built around legacy and recognition. Tickets for both nights are available through the Joburg Theatre.
