Maxwell Cancels South Africa Concerts as Fans Await Refunds
Grammy-winning singer Maxwell just delivered disappointing news to South African fans this week. The reason Maxwell cancels South Africa concerts is now confirmed, and AfrobeatsGlobal has every detail you need. Here is what happened, why it happened, and what ticket holders should expect next.
The Shows That Got Cancelled
Maxwell was originally scheduled to perform in Pretoria on August 8 and in Cape Town on August 11. Promoter Vertex Events announced the cancellation, citing unforeseen circumstances beyond the artist’s control.
According to the promoter, multiple alternatives were explored with Maxwell’s management before the decision was finalized.
Unfortunately, none of those options proved workable for either side. Maxwell personally addressed his South African fans, apologizing and stressing that the choice was not made lightly.
Refunds and What Comes Next

Vertex Events confirmed that fans who already purchased tickets will receive full refunds. Customers should expect direct communication from Webtickets regarding the refund process going forward.
Additionally, the promoter attempted to secure new dates for later this year, but scheduling conflicts made that impossible.
Despite the setback, Vertex Events says conversations are already underway to bring Maxwell back in 2027. For now, fans will simply have to wait a little longer to catch the R&B icon live on South African soil.
