South African pop sensation Tyla has once again made history at the 2026 Grammy Awards, winning Best African Music Performance for her hit song Push 2 Start.
The global star edged out a powerful lineup dominated by Nigerian heavyweights, further cementing her status as one of Africa’s biggest musical exports.
This marks Tyla’s second Grammy win in the category. She first broke records in 2024 with Water, becoming the inaugural recipient when the award was introduced to spotlight African music on the global stage.
Her 2026 victory came against strong contenders including Burna Boy, Davido, Ayra Starr, Wizkid and Eddy Kenzo, proving just how competitive and influential African music has become worldwide.
