Wizkid Made in Lagos Deluxe Hits 1.3 Billion Streams
Five years on, Made in Lagos Deluxe still refuses to slow down. The album has now crossed 1.3 billion Spotify streams. At AfrobeatsGlobal, we call that pure staying power.
Made in Lagos Deluxe Becomes the Sixth Biggest Nigerian Project
That total makes it the sixth most streamed Nigerian project of all time on Spotify. Wizkid released the original album on October 30, 2020. Then the expanded edition followed on August 27, 2021.
Songs like Essence with Tems, Ginger with Burna Boy, and Mood with BNXN still carry the project. Meanwhile, fans keep replaying them on road trips and at house parties.
Why Made in Lagos Deluxe Still Matters
Essence climbed to number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 after the Justin Bieber remix. Furthermore, the original album had logged 163 weeks on the Billboard World Albums chart by August 2025.
In January 2026, Wizkid also became the first African artist to pass 10 billion Spotify streams. Notably, Made in Lagos Deluxe remains his most streamed project on the platform.
Where Made in Lagos Deluxe Sits Among Billion-Stream Albums
Similarly, albums by Burna Boy, Rema, Ayra Starr, and Omah Lay have also passed a billion streams. However, Wizkid built his total with a project that helped Afrobeats reach the world. Indeed, that era opened many global doors.
