Music producer, Samklef Calls Out Singer Banky W Over Unpaid Wizkid’s ‘Superstar’ Album Royalties
Samklef, a popular Nigerian music producer, has resorted to social media to criticize Banky W, a music executive, for not paying royalties for Wizkid’s Superstar album.
Samklef, who is now based in the United States, claims to have started legal action and is seeking a 50/50 split of royalties.
Samklef took to Twitter to write;
“Claiming all my 11 years royalties for WiZkid super star album in a bit. My Laywers will reach out. It’s 50/50. Anybody wey don collect my money better reach out o! Samkef fine were o! Make dem tag Banky o! My money go don plenty o! Before him go use am campaign for election.”
Samklef’s piece follows an unintentionally provocative narrative that resulted from Banky W’s recent interview with Ebuka.
Wizkid had a 5-album deal with Empire mates Entertainment, according to Banky W, but after completing the second album, Wizkid proclaimed his decision to move on and do things his own.
Banky W then said he gave him his blessings, and as we have all seen, Wizkid has gone on to become one of Africa’s most popular artists, pushing Afrobeats to new heights.
