Fireboy DML Recalls His First Weeks In Lagos
Speaking during a recent livestream, the Vibration crooner recalled that his early days in the city were frightening. He described being exposed to unfamiliar scenes that left him scared and unsettled.
“I was so scared the first time I came to Lagos in 2016, in Surulere. People’s eyes were so red, and they looked scary. In two weeks, I saw someone run mad, dead bodies and cultists. Now, I also look like those scary people,” he said.
He added that within two weeks, he witnessed disturbing scenes that shook him deeply.
He Refused To Give Up On His Dream
Despite the initial shock, Fireboy DML said he refused to abandon his ambitions or return home. Instead, he gradually adapted to the lifestyle and environment surrounding him as he pursued his music career.
That determination eventually paid off. Fireboy has since become one of the most prominent voices in Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene, recording several successful songs and albums since breaking into the mainstream.
