Davido Reveals B4 B4 Story as Oriadé Hits No. 2 Globally
Davido is having quite the week, both in the studio stories and on the global charts. The Davido-B4-B4-Oriade saga just got a fresh twist straight from the man himself. AfrobeatsGlobal breaks down the reveal and the record-breaking numbers behind it.
The Song That Almost Wasn’t His
In a recent interview with Carterefe, Davido revealed that ‘B4 B4’ was never originally meant to be his song. The record first belonged to Mayorkun and FOLA, who had already completed it before inviting him to hop on a verse.
According to Davido, Mayorkun later offered him the full song for his own project after hearing the finished verse.
A Late Addition That Became a Highlight
Davido also admitted the album was already finished when ‘B4 B4’ nearly missed the final tracklist. It reportedly took some convincing from his aide Israel DMW before he agreed to include it.
“I had already finished the album and I wasn’t sure if ‘B4 B4’ would get on it. But Israel DMW said, ‘Oga the song sweet oh, abeg.’ But at least he didn’t leak it like ‘Flex My Soul,’” Davido joked, drawing laughter with a playful reference to a previous incident involving his longtime aide.
That last-minute decision paid off, since the track has become one of the standout moments on ‘Oriadé.’
Oriadé’s Big Global Milestone
Alongside the reveal, ‘Oriadé’ just debuted at No. 2 on Spotify’s Global Top Albums Debut Chart. The achievement places the project among the biggest new album releases worldwide this week.
The album has already earned millions of streams while making waves across markets in Nigeria, the United States, and beyond. With momentum still building, ‘Oriadé’ looks set to remain a major streaming force in the weeks ahead.
