Carter Efe Praises Davido’s Support, Expresses Disappointment Over Wizkid’s Silence

Popular Nigerian skit maker and singer Carter Efe has sparked fresh online conversation after publicly appreciating Afrobeats superstar Davido for his support, while also expressing disappointment over what he described as a lack of recognition from Wizkid.

Speaking during a recent livestream, Carter Efe reflected on a pivotal moment in his career when Davido unexpectedly joined his Twitch stream last year. The surprise appearance sent fans into a frenzy and reportedly set a new record as the most-viewed Twitch livestream in Africa, significantly boosting Carter Efe’s visibility and influence across the continent.

According to the comedian-turned-musician, Davido’s involvement marked a turning point in his journey. He praised the singer as a true legend who consistently uplifts others in the entertainment industry and uses his platform to support emerging talents.

“Davido is a real supporter. He came to my livestream and changed the game for me,” Carter Efe said, emphasizing how much the gesture meant to his growth.

However, his tone shifted when he spoke about Wizkid. Carter Efe revealed that he felt hurt after Wizkid failed to acknowledge him, even after he released the hit song “Machala” in tribute to the singer — a track that went on to top charts and dominate conversations online.

What disappointed him further, he explained, was seeing Wizkid interact publicly with Seun Kuti while seemingly ignoring his own efforts.

“Wizkid couldn’t even say hi to me, even after I dropped a number-one song for him,” Carter Efe said. “But he had time to reply Seun Kuti. That one really pained me.”

The comments have since ignited debate on social media, with fans weighing in on celebrity recognition, mentorship, and the expectations placed on superstars within the Nigerian music industry.

While Davido continues to earn praise for his open support of younger creatives, Carter Efe’s remarks highlight ongoing conversations about visibility, validation, and relationships among Nigeria’s biggest entertainment figures.
