Asake’s Masterpiece ‘Work Of Art’ Takes the Crown as Top Nigerian Album of 2023
Asake’s second studio release has earned a recognition from global entertainment news outlets, securing its position as the top Nigerian album of 2023.
This 14-track album, unveiled on June 16, 2023, stands as a testament to Asake’s stature as a significant export in the afrobeats genre from Nigeria.
Renowned entertainment news source Rollingstone has bestowed the title of the best Nigerian album of 2023 upon “Work Of Art,” placing it at an impressive second position in the overall ranking of the best African albums of the year, just behind Amaarae’s “Fountain Baby” album.
Notably, there was no distinct chart delineated for African albums, but the YBNL signee found himself in esteemed company, sharing the top 100 albums of 2023 list with notable artists like Amaarae, Mr Eazi, Burna Boy, and Adekunle Gold.

Rollingstone was however not the only media outlet to rank Asake’s Work Of Art that highly, Jon Caramanica of The New York Times ranked the album as the best album released in 2023 as well.
Asake has continued to break boundaries and surpass expectations of many following his debut in 2022. He was also ranked as the most streamed artist in Nigeria on Spotify’s end of the year chart list.
