Afua Asantewaa Concludes Sing-A-Thon Marathon, Achieves 126 Hours and 52 Minutes
After an impressive marathon lasting 126 hours and 52 minutes, former beauty queen and Ghanaian journalist Afua Asantewaa concluded her bid to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest sing-a-thon.
Exceeding the previous record of 105 hours set by Indian Sunil Waghmare in 2012, Afua now awaits official confirmation and validation of her remarkable feat from the Guinness World Record judges.
Her five-day singing journey began on December 24 and concluded on December 29, 2023. Achieving the 72-hour milestone on Wednesday, she persisted, ultimately breaking the previous record in the early hours of Friday.
While awaiting the judges’ official verdict, Afua received overwhelming support from various Ghanaian celebrities who flocked to the Akwaaba village. Personal appearances by notable figures such as Becca, Cina Soul, Sista Afia, Kwabena Kwabena, Eno Barony, Kobi Rana, Sarkodie, Nana Ama McBrown, and even Ghana’s Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, added to the encouragement during her record attempt.
