Nigerian music star, Adekunle Gold, has finally released his sixth studio album, Fuji, and it is already sparking conversations everywhere. The album delivers a rich, 15-track body of work that pays homage to his Yoruba roots while boldly experimenting with new sonic directions. In true AG style, he asks fans to listen in sequence, not skipping any track, because each song flows into the next like episodes of a TV series.
Here is the complete tracklist for Fuji:
What makes this release stand out is how intentional Adekunle Gold has been about the journey. He carefully teased fans with singles like “Obimo,” “Coco Money,” “Bobo,” and “Believe,” which now sit seamlessly within the larger story. Ranking 5th on its debut on Apple’s Nigeria Top Album Chart, each song showcases his ability to fuse heartfelt lyrics with rhythmic textures, creating an album that is both nostalgic and refreshing.
Furthermore, the meaning behind the title Fuji makes the project even more special. Originally framed as an acronym for “Finding Uncharted Journeys Inside,” Adekunle Gold has said the word also reflects the sound that has always been with him.
According to him, even when making Afropop or R&B, he insists there’s always been a “fuji element” in his music. With this release, he embraces it fully, presenting fans with the truest version of himself yet.
Musically, Fuji leans into Yoruba traditions with elements of apala, tungba, and indigenous percussion layered with contemporary production. Tracks like “Big Fish” and “Many People” tell stories of resilience, success, and the realities of visibility. Songs like “My Love Is the Same” and “Believe” explore love and faith, while “Obimo” offers the kind of emotional closeness that lingers long after the album ends.
Interestingly, the album is light on features. The only revealed collaboration on the album is “Bobo,” with Lojay and Shoday, even though class acts like Davido, Don Toliver, 6lack, Asa, Simi, and Soweto Gospel Choir were earlier spotlighted for playing a part in the album. This choice shows that the project is not about relying on star-studded features but about centering his own voice and narrative.
With Fuji, Adekunle Gold has created more than an album; he has delivered an experience! It feels like a statement of identity, a love letter to his roots, and a bold move in today’s constantly evolving African music scene. Fans and critics alike are already hailing it as one of his strongest projects yet.
So tell us, which track in the album do you have on repeat? Share it in the comments, as we celebrate Adekunle Gold’s new era together!
