Afro Nation Portugal is already looking ahead to 2027, with a lineup bringing together major names from across Africa and beyond.
The festival has announced Davido, Rema, and Fally Ipupa as the headliners for its seventh edition. The first lineup also includes Omah Lay, Odeal, Shenseea, Valiant, Victony, Rayvanny, Bamby, and Miimii KDS, with GIMS announced as a special guest.
The festival will return to Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Portugal, from June 9 to 11, 2027. More artists are expected to be announced as the festival rollout continues.
Davido, Rema, and Fally Ipupa Lead the Lineup
The first announcement brings together artists from different parts of Africa’s music scene.
Davido and Rema will represent Nigeria, while Fally Ipupa brings the sound of the Democratic Republic of Congo to the headline stage. The three artists have all previously appeared at Afro Nation Portugal, making their return part of the festival’s ongoing relationship with some of Africa’s biggest stars.
The LIT Stage will also feature Omah Lay, Odeal, Shenseea, Valiant, Victony, Bamby, Miimii KDS, and Rayvanny. GIMS will join the festival as a special guest, adding another international name to the first wave of performers.
Amapiano Takes Over the Piano People Stage
Afro Nation Portugal 2027 will once again give Amapiano its own space through the Piano People Stage.
The first announcement includes Kabza De Small, TxC, Dlala Thukzin, Young Stunna, and Zee Nxumalo, alongside other names including 031Choppa, 2woBunnies, Benzo, Thatohatsi, Uncool MC, W4DE, and Xduppy B2B Al Xapo.
The festival will also feature its Afrotronic programming, with Caiiro, Djeff, Jamiie, Aniko, and JNR SA among the artists announced. This gives the festival a wider musical range beyond Afrobeats, bringing together amapiano, dancehall, and African electronic sounds.
The first wave also includes South Gidi, a live project connected to DJ Tunez and DJ Maphorisa, which is scheduled to close the final night.
Afro Nation Continues Its Global African Music Focus
Since launching in Portugal, Afro Nation has grown into a major international platform for African music and culture.
The Portugal festival has consistently brought together artists from Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, and other parts of Africa, alongside international performers. Its programming has also expanded across genres, creating space for Afrobeats, amapiano, dancehall, and other African sounds.
The 2027 edition continues that approach by bringing together artists from Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, Tanzania, Jamaica, and other parts of the global music community.
With more names still expected to join the lineup, Afro Nation Portugal 2027 is shaping up to be another major meeting point for African music and its global audience.
