Ila Nia And We Are Nubia Drop New Single Healer
East African music just got a beautiful new addition. Kenyan singer songwriter Ila Nia has joined Nairobi vocal duo We Are Nubia on a new single titled Healer. AfrobeatsGlobal is loving the warmth this record brings to the region’s growing Afro-pop scene.
The song was created during a studio session with producer Run. It leans into warm melodies, rich harmonies, and an infectious groove throughout. Rather than focusing only on romance, Healer explores connection through friendship, laughter, and shared joy.
Ila Nia first met We Are Nubia at a studio session over a year ago. She promised then that they would eventually work together, and that promise finally came true. “There was already such beautiful energy between us,” she recalled about that first meeting.
The Story Behind The Healer Collaboration
The recording session itself became part of the song’s meaning. Ila Nia described writing, dancing, and laughing throughout, calling the experience honestly beautiful. That same energy carried into a dinner afterward, where the pair played Healer on repeat.
“Healer is about beautiful souls, beautiful energy, and the magic that happens when people come together creatively,” Ila Nia explained.
She added that healing does not always require romantic love to matter. Sometimes friendship, music, or simply good company can restore the spirit just as well.
Ila Nia’s growing catalogue already includes collaborations with Nameless and Barnaba. We Are Nubia, meanwhile, continues building a reputation for warm harmonies and distinctly Kenyan storytelling. Together, Healer marks an exciting new chapter for both acts.
