Rema just closed out one of Rwanda’s biggest weeks with a sold-out night in Kigali. The Rema Kwita Izina Concert took over BK Arena on September 5, 2026. Additionally, the show marked the entertainment finale of this year’s Kwita Izina celebrations.
AfrobeatsGlobal has followed Rema‘s global rise closely, and this stop added another country to his growing list. Kwita Izina itself is Rwanda’s flagship gorilla conservation celebration, held every year in Musanze District. However, the Kigali concert brought a different kind of energy to the week’s events. Furthermore, this marked Rema‘s first Kigali performance since October 2023.

Fans packed BK Arena to hear crowd favorites like Azaman, Soweto, Dumebi, and Kelebu. Notably, the night also doubled as an unofficial celebration for his hit single FUN, which just turned one. As a result, the crowd sang along to nearly every track from start to finish.
Rwandan artist Kivumbi King opened the show alongside other regional performers. Meanwhile, Rwanda Development Board officials framed the concert as proof of Kigali’s growing entertainment profile. In fact, tourism officials pointed to Rwanda’s rising visitor numbers as a sign of the country’s momentum.
What Rema’s Kigali Show Means for His 2026 Run
This concert adds to an already stacked year for the Calm Down hitmaker. Rema has already surpassed 1 billion Spotify streams in 2026 alone. Still, his global touring schedule shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Even so, fans in the region hope this becomes a regular stop on his calendar. Rema‘s connection to East African audiences keeps growing with every visit. On the other hand, Kigali’s growing reputation as an entertainment destination only helps his case.
