Diamond Platnumz Joins Angélique Kidjo on ‘Kakua’
Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has joined Beninese music icon Angélique Kidjo on Kakua, a track from her album HOPE!!. Released through Parlophone and Warner Music, the collaboration brings one of Tanzania’s biggest musical exports into a project featuring artists from across Africa and beyond.
According to Kidjo’s official tracklist, Kakua is the album’s ninth track. The song was released as a single on April 23, 2026, while HOPE!! followed on April 24, 2026.
The album also features Ayra Starr, Davido, Fally Ipupa, Dadju, Pharrell Williams, and other international collaborators. These partnerships reflect Kidjo’s continued commitment to connecting different musical cultures.
Why Angélique Kidjo’s Collaboration Matters
Kidjo is a five-time Grammy Award winner whose career spans decades. Her work has helped bring African music to international audiences, making her a significant collaborator for artists seeking broader recognition.
For Diamond, appearing on HOPE!! places his music within a project led by an internationally respected African artist. It also highlights the value of collaborations that connect different audiences and music industries.
What ‘Kakua’ Could Mean for Bongo Flava Globally

Bongo Flava, Tanzania’s popular music genre, has steadily gained international attention through artists such as Diamond. His previous collaborations with African and international performers have also helped introduce his music to listeners beyond East Africa.
The Kakua collaboration could encourage new audiences to explore Diamond’s catalogue and discover more Tanzanian music. It also demonstrates how established African artists can create opportunities for cross-border musical exchange.
However, the collaboration’s long-term impact will depend on audience reception, promotion, and streaming performance. Its release alone does not guarantee greater international recognition for Bongo Flava.
A New Connection for African Music
Diamond Platnumz’s appearance on Angélique Kidjo’s HOPE!! reinforces the importance of collaboration in African music’s global journey. Kakua brings Tanzanian talent into a wider musical conversation and creates another opportunity for Bongo Flava to reach new listeners.
