Best East African Songs Right Now
East Africa had a loud October. Collaborations crossed borders, a Kenyan star joined a major American label, and two Ugandan women finally delivered a long-awaited duet. Fans searching for the best East African songs right now have plenty to stream, so AfrobeatsGlobal rounds up the standouts from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Somalia, and Ethiopia. Some earlier 2026 hits are still on repeat too.
Best East African Songs From Kenya
Bien leads the list with I’ll Be Okay. The former Sauti Sol frontman signed with Quality Control Music on October 9, becoming the Atlanta label’s first African artist, through a joint venture with Courtesy Of. The single arrived with the announcement. It is a reflective song about the uncertainty that follows a breakup, and the cinematic video was shot in a natural setting.
The song spent much of October at number one on Kenyan charts and passed 9 million YouTube views in just over three weeks. It also previews his album Alusa Continua, scheduled for November 20. Bien’s earlier collaboration with Alikiba, Finale, has passed 40 million YouTube views since its March release.
Kenya also gave us Siaka, a street-level hit from Mejja featuring Uganda’s Fik Fameica. A TikTok challenge pushed it into one of the country’s biggest songs of 2026.
Best East African Songs From Tanzania
Ethiopian singer Veronica Adane teamed up with Rayvanny on Bironica, released on October 7. Shortly after release, the video trended on YouTube in the UK, the UAE, Lebanon, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Canada, and it passed 200,000 views by October 8. The visuals center on Ethiopian cultural heritage, which gives the Bongo Flava star a fresh backdrop.
Marioo’s Mombasa is another one worth a replay. The relaxed, romantic ode to the Kenyan coastal city comes from his nine-track album MMMCXII, released on May 29. Meanwhile, Alikiba and Harmonize pair up on Utanionea, and Diamond Platnumz leans into joy with Jux on JOY (Ikweji).
Best East African Songs From Uganda
Karole Kasita and Sheebah finally delivered Bukutu on October 15, with a 4K video. The idea began when Karole approached Sheebah about a song three years ago, so fans waited a long time. The song reached number one on Uganda’s YouTube trending chart.
Sheebah also scored a catchy replay with Nsi Namba alongside T Paul 256. Elsewhere, Joshua Baraka’s Morocco grew far bigger through a remix featuring Shenseea, French Montana, and Byron Messia.
Best East African Songs From Rwanda and Burundi
Diez Dola teams up with veteran The Ben on ONIVA, their first collaboration. The video dropped on October 14. In the song, Ben pushes back on rumors about his marriage to Uwicyeza Pamela. Diez Dola described the pairing as two different generations sharing a connection to Rwandan music, and Okay Africa calls it the final single before his album PROPAGANDA.
Rwanda’s Bruce Melodie also made noise with Pom Pom, featuring Diamond Platnumz and Brown Joel. In Burundi, Drama T’s Ntagatima keeps the country in the conversation.
Best East African Songs From Somalia and Ethiopia
UAE-based Somali rapper FREEK dropped a fresh video for SENZU BEAN, a standout from his ANTI HERO project. In Ethiopia, Teddy Afro returned with Jember after almost nine years between full-length projects. Together, they show how wide the region’s sound has become.
Overall, the region is racing toward the end of the year with big collaborations and album plans. Bien’s Alusa Continua lands on November 20, and Diez Dola’s PROPAGANDA is on the way.
