Matt Ngesa Releases Debut Album ‘For the Road’

Matt Ngesa Releases Debut Album For the Road, Out Now

Kenya is dropping soul, and Matt Ngesa is the voice behind it! The Matt Ngesa debut album, For the Road, is officially out now. It took four years to build.

The Nairobi-based singer-songwriter calls it a love letter to family, friendship, and growth. Naturally, fans of soulful, soft-rock-flavored pop will find plenty to love.

The Story Behind the Matt Ngesa Debut Album

The project began during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, his parents contracted the virus. As a result, a period of worry gave birth to four songs.

Those songs were Muse, August, Kintsugi, and Bright. Together, they laid the foundation for the whole album. Then the theme of gratitude kept growing.

Next comes the focus track, August. Its message is simple: do what you love, with the people you love, for the people you love.

Inside the Matt Ngesa Debut Album Tracklist

For the Road holds nine songs. The tracklist runs from Enough and Bright to When She Calls, August, and Muse. Finally, Tea, 2am, Hearts on the Ceiling, and Kintsugi close it out.

Notably, Kintsugi features Joy Ocholla. That guest spot adds another voice to a very personal project.

Why the Matt Ngesa Debut Album Matters

Ngesa first caught wider attention with his 2023 COLORS performance of Muse. Before that, he released his debut EP, Rem Me, in 2020. Now this full-length project completes the picture.
