Ghanaian DJ and producer DJ Boat has been featured on Apple Music’s September 2026 edition of the Africa Now DJ Mix. Released on September 4, the mix contains 69 songs and runs for 1 hour and 50 minutes, bringing together Afrobeats, amapiano, 3-Step, Afro-house, and other contemporary African sounds.
The mix brings together some of the biggest names in African music, including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Uncle Waffles, Asake, Omah Lay, Davido, Tems, and Tyla. It also gives space to other established and emerging artists, making the project a broad look at the sounds currently moving across the continent.
A Mix Built Around African Sounds
DJ Boat’s selection moves beyond Afrobeats alone. The mix brings together different sounds that have become increasingly important to African music, including amapiano, 3-step, and Afro-house.
That variety is one of the strongest parts of the project. Instead of focusing on one country or one sound, the mix connects music from different African markets and shows how these genres continue to influence each other.
Some of the Biggest Songs Featured

The tracklist includes several familiar songs and collaborations. Wizkid and Asake’s “Alaye,” Tyla’s “CHANEL” and “Water,” and Asake’s “Forgiveness” and “Joha” are among the songs featured.
Other selections include Uncle Waffles’ “ZENZELE,” Ayra Starr’s “Rush (Amapiano Remix),” and Rema’s “Calm Down (Zen Amapiano Remix).” Davido also appears through the Jacksound Amapiano Remix of “UNAVAILABLE” featuring Musa Keys.
Ghanaian Talent Also Gets the Spotlight
As a Ghanaian DJ, DJ Boat also brings attention to talent from his home country. Black Sherif is among the artists featured, alongside other African acts from different markets.
DJ Boat also appears on several tracks within the mix, including “Lonely World” with OlivetheBoy. His selections and contributions give the project a connection to Ghana while keeping its focus firmly on the wider African music scene.
DJ Boat Wants the Music to Move People

DJ Boat described the project as a high-energy party mix created with the audience in mind. He also spoke about his passion for taking African music to a global audience and allowing listeners to experience the different sounds coming from the continent.
That approach is clear throughout the mix. From Afrobeats and amapiano to newer African dance sounds, the selection reflects how much the continent’s music scene has expanded.
A Snapshot of African Music Right Now
The Africa Now September 2026 mix is more than a collection of popular songs. It gives listeners a quick look at the artists, collaborations, and sounds shaping African music at the moment.
With major names such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tyla, Asake, Tems, and Ayra Starr alongside other African talents, DJ Boat’s selection shows the continued variety and global reach of the continent’s music.
