What I learnt growing up around Afrobeat pioneer, Fela – Burna Boy’s mother, Bose Ogulu
The mother of Burna Boy, Bose Ogulu has revealed how growing up around Fela Kuti, Africa’s best performer, influenced her career.
Bose Ogulu claimed in a recent BBC interview that she gained vital things about artist management despite spending only a brief time with Fela and his crew (Egypt 80).
She claimed that she knew from a young age that Fela’s manager, Benson Idonije, her father, had more obligations than the singer. These responsibilities included paying band members and completing various chores.
Bose stated that her father oversaw the crew and that all of the saxophonist’s band members approached him rather than Fela.
She stressed the necessity of competent management for an artiste, claiming that it has had a huge impact on her current career in artist management.
