The jury, which consisted of seven men and five women, deliberated for roughly nine hours over two days before reaching a unanimous decision.

This isn’t a case concerning a famous person who likes to party a lot. At the outset of the case, Assistant US Attorney Maria Cruz Melendez stated, “This case is about a predator.”

Aaliyah, the late R&B artist, was one of his victims. Kelly married her illegally in a Chicago hotel room when she was 15 years old in 1994.

Prosecutors revealed that the music artist sought the help of his crew to carry out the illegal wedding.

Kelly was arrested in Chicago for several federal sex crimes in two different states just over two years ago, and the verdict in federal court in Brooklyn came just over two years later.
