Album Review: Burna Boys – TwiceAsTall
Burna Boy has finally released his much awaited Album which is titled “Twice As Tall”. We can say that the African Giant has done a fantastic job on this one.
In the intro of the album, what we heard first wasn’t expected as the voice used was unique compared to his previous album. The change of the beat by the Senegalese he featured too was a game changer. It takes one from an African vibe to a calmer mood as it sound like an ancient orchestral choir.
His second song “Alarm Clock” quickly brings you to your feet as it comes with a strong vibe and accompanied with energy. From the beats to the sound would remind you of his predecessor, FELA.
On this album, we can see that Burna Boy featured only 5 artists, Sauti sol, Stormzy, Chris Martin, Naughty by Nature and Senegalese singer, Youssou N’Dour. Listening to their songs, seems Burna Boy is truly African Giant as those 5 featured artists made his music unique especially the first on the list with the Senegalese singer who sang in his native language. Also at the end of his song with Sauti Sol, they gave little speech on the ongoing Black Lives Matters which is also a powerful way to communicate about the bad treatment of blacks by the whites.

With this album, we can also see Burna Boy’s energy in gaining more international recognition. Also he may be considering to receive awards with this album, most especially the most prestigious award “Grammy” which he lost to Angelique Kidjo last year.
With this album, do you think Burna Boy has proven himself to be an African Giant? And do you expect this album to bring more awards for Burna Boy?
